The QRI5 is an individually administered informal reading inventory (IRI) designed to provide information about (1) conditions under which students can identify words and comprehend text successfully and (2) conditions that appear to result in unsuccessful word identification or comprehension. 2. The purpose of the QRI5 is to know at what level a student is standing by in reading which gives the teacher a better idea of how to group students for guided reading, choosing the appropriate books for literacy circles, reading workshops, and independent reading, and it can provide information for designing and evaluating intervention instruction. 3.
